Here we show how to get a TUMonline account and how to log into TUMonline as an applicant, student or employee.

Login in general

Click on the login-symbol at the top right in TUMonline:

Log in with your TUM e-mail address (e.g. max.mustermann@tum.de) or TUM ID (e.g. gu27cat) and your self-defined password:

Applicants

During the application process

During the application process you receive an applicant account. Being an applicant, you can login only at TUMonline. Access to further systems is granted after enrollment.

The TUMonline-account consists of

  • an e-mail address selected by the applicant and
  • an associated password.

For login please click on the login-symbol at the top right in TUMonline:

Type your your private e-mail address as user name and your personal password:

After enrollment

  • When you are enrolled, you are automatically assigned a student account with a specified identifier (TUM ID). We inform you via e-mail about this change.
  • Now you can set a TUM e-mail address.

Students

  • As a student of TUM you get a student account in TUMonline.
  • You also get a so called TUM ID ("TUM-Kennung") from TUMonline. Its format is e.g. "no34yif" (consonant, vocal, digit, digit, consonant, vocal, consonant). This loginname is unchangeable and serves as you automatical user name in combination with @mytum.de (e.g. no34yif@mytum.de).

Staff and guests

In order to acquire an account, at least one of the following status types is required vis-à-vis an organization (i.e. organizational unit such as a department, institute, faculty, etc.) within TUM:

  •     active employment status with the organization
  •     some other active legal relationship (e.g. assistant lecturer, doctoral student, …) with the organization which is created through guest administration in TUMonline
  •     an active function within the organization

The employment status and the master details of the individual are entered in TUMonline through the personnel department (SAP/HR) and can only be altered there.

Employees receive an user account with their employment. The human recources department creates the account (SAP/HR) and the data gets transferred to TUMonline automatically.

"Guests" receive their "Guest user account" through the TUMonline Guest Manager of their organization.

First login

Login credentials for TUMonline

  • As an employee you get a so called TUM ID ("TUM-Kennung") from TUMonline. Its format is e.g. "no34yif" (consonant, vocal, digit, digit, consonant, vocal, consonant). This loginname is unchangeable and serves as you automatical user name in combination with @mytum.de (e.g. ka21bab@mytum.de).
  • You can configure your own TUM e-mail address  using your last name (e.g. max.mustermann@tum.de). This e-mail address can be used as username for TUMonline too.

Alumni

  • All those who hold the status of student, staff member or guest at TUM automatically receive a restricted alumni account as soon as this status ceases to apply. This Alumni account contents restricted rights.

  • Please log in with your TUM ID and password.
