Abstract

Animal husbandry accounts for 15% of all climate gas emissions. Until 2022 different actions have been taken to decrease the climate change. For animal husbandry, laws and prohibitions have been introduced. Raising awareness and understanding the animal husbandry conditions can lead to better welfare and less meat consumption, decreasing the impact on the climate change. Many health risks like cardiovascular diseases or diabetes mellitus type 2 can be avoided. The serious game FARm was developed. It is about building a farm and fattening chickens and pigs. An augmented reality part allows learners to perform tail docking and beak clipping. The game is using the "Haltungsform"-label to show farm conditions and what the impact on climate is, what different husbandry stages mean, how meat prices are affected by different factors and how the consumers health can change by eating more or less meat. It was played by 16 users and questions were answered.
